Urban Program with a Rural Pathway – Gibson City, IL
UIC FMR Rural Pathway is a comprehensive urban/rural family medicine educational training experience. Rural pathway residents complete their PGY1 year at UIHealth, an urban academic hospital with robust inpatient training. PGY2/3 years are completed in Chicago and Gibson City, with a curriculum tailored to the resident’s individual career goals.
Unique Features
- Comprehensive training in management of Substance Use Disorders and Addiction Medicine with dual board certified Addiction Med/Family Med physicians in both the urban and rural rotations
- Strong procedural training including surgical obstetrics. Only Family Medicine physicians deliver at GAHHS hospital, including operative deliveries
- Strong reproductive health training. UIC is a RHEDI program with opt-out training in medical and surgical terminations.
