Urban Program with a Rural Track -Jacksonville, IL
Jacksonville Memorial Hospital (JMH), an affiliate of Memorial Health (MH), and Southern Illinois University School of Medicine (SIU) partner in providing a rural track training program. JMH is a critical access hospital located in Morgan County, IL but has a service area covering 7 rural counties.
Unique Features
- There is a longstanding, successful relationship between SIU as the academic affiliate for JMH and MH
- MH serves an average of more than 40,000 inpatient, more than 667,000 outpatients and more than 125,000 patients covering five MH emergency departments
- SIU includes 293 medical students, 125 graduate students, 80 physician assistants, 332 residents and fellows and 300 full time faculty
- SIU has 6 degree programs, 4 graduate programs, 21 residency programs, 10 fellowships, 2 campuses and 12 centers and institutes
- SIU is a community-based medical school. This school is not owned by a hospital nor does it own a hospital
- Rotations will be in a wide variety of settings including:
- Adult inpatients in an urban hospital
- JMH critical access hospital-based programs like partial hospitalization and senior intensive outpatient programs
- Outpatient community-based clinical, emergency room consultations
- Primary care collaborative care models
- County health departments
- FQHC, Project ECHO; and
- Telehealth providers
- JMH, MH, and SIU have active and supportive departments for equity, diversity and inclusion
- The existing SIU departments of Psychiatry Residency Program has a 100 percent board pass rate
